August 2002 Wow!! Today is my one-year surgery anniversary! It's so hard to believe how fast time has flown and how many changes have happened in my life in just one year. I now wear a size small-medium shirt (8-10), size 10 pants, and size 8 dress. Who knew THAT would ever happen! I don't remember EVER being in such low sizes, not even when I was a teen. I can shop in any store now and order out of any catalog. It felt GREAT to tear up the Lane Bryant credit card! I ride a mountain bike, run up and down stairs, and walk fast on the treadmill. I fit in rides, theater seats, and plane seats. I get looks and winks from guys. I smile back. I don't walk with my eyes down anymore. I don't put up with abuse and manipulation in relationships anymore. I don't let myself be used, nor do I think I'm worthless. I know many people are all of those things and more even when they are heavy. Kudos to them! I just wasn't able. I uploaded my one-year pics including my scar. I also uploaded some new pics in the misc section to show what some parts of me look like after having lost 150 lbs. Skin removal surgery is a bit of a way off yet, but I am starting the research now. |
