December 2001
Lots to report this month, 4 months since my surgery!
After months of getting stares from people at work, they are starting
to approach me with compliments now. One boss said I was just a
shadow of my former self which I wholeheartedly agreed with! Then
at the company holiday party all the wives were grabbing me and
pulling me off to the side to say wow and hug me. I really felt
accepted for the first time since attending these parties 8 years
ago.
I'm 202 right now and don't think I will make it under 200 by New
Year's, but you never can tell! I have a huge pile of clothes and
I have to find a consignment store to get them sold. I don't have
a whole lot of clothes right now because if I lose the additional
45 I hope to, then that will bring me down 1-2 more sizes. I might
even end up a size 10, which I wouldn't have thought in my wildest
dreams. I just can't imagine it...
I only lost 10 pounds this month but I lost more inches than last
month, and last month I lost over 14 pounds. I went to the store
to get a winter coat and almost freaked out when some size 12 coats
fit! So remember, even if the weight doesn't move that much, keep
checking your inches!
I've begun dating for the first time in many years. It's both exciting
and frightening at the same time. In my mind I still cannot get
used to a good looking guy being interested in me. My first thought
is always a negative one because that's what I've been used to all
my life. This is going to take some time to change as I learn how
to handle things that I've never had the opportunity to experience
before.
Constipation was a REAL problem this month, largely due to the
iron therapy they started me on. It got really bad. I was trying
Milk of Magnesia, Fibercon, Metamucil, lots of roughage like lettuce,
and even my always-worked-before herbal tea, but nothing was working.
One morning I even thought I was going to have someone take me to
the emergency room.
I know how bad pushing is for you, especially after abdominal surgery.
You could get a hernia or internal and external hemorrhoids. I was
just about to call Dr. Thayer again and tell him that I thought
something was blocked in there, but then I tried a full dose of
Senecot. Well what do you know, it worked. I take 2 pills every
night before going to bed and the next morning I can go. Everyone
is different regarding this problem, and you have to experiment
and find what works for you.
