January 2003
At 1 1/2 years out now, I think I am finally leveling
out on my weight. I lost 2 more pounds in December and nothing since
then, so it looks like I'm going to stabilize at 146 pounds. That
is beyond what I even hoped for, and I am very pleased.
A few people who knew me at my heavier weight have
expressed concern that I am too thin now, but my surgeon checked
me out and assured me I am right at my height's target range. My
face does look a little drawn out, but I have always had a very
long face and that's simply the way it looks thin.
I love my trim back and hips (still have quite a bit
of extra skin on my butt and thighs though). I love fitting into
some clothing that is labeled "small" and "size 8."
I love that I can order clothes from chic catalogs now. It's funny,
but I still go to throw them away when they arrive in the mail because
my first conditioned response is "I can't fit into anything
in them." I have no idea how long it will take to "un-condition"
this response!
I'm still able to eat about 1/2 a normal-sized meal
which is plenty. I can eat a whole small bagel now, or a regular
sized bowl of cereal. I cannot eat anymore than 1/4 - 1/3 a restaurant
meal (their meals are always way to huge anyway -- even for those
of normal weight. The portions in this country outweigh other countries'
portions by huge amounts!). I have bread now and then, but most
of the time it prevents me from getting the most from a meal, so
I usually take out whatever is inside and then discard the bread.
I don't have as many protein shakes as I used to now
that I can eat more "normally," but I do have them now
and then. I still eat Zone protein bars which are awesome. I do
have to up my intake on fruits and veggies. And I need a haircut
;)
That's all until the next update which will probably
be in March.
