My appointment with Dr. Thayer last month went excellent! I am
so pleased, and so is he.
He has told me that because I am exercising regularly on the treadmill,
I will not need to do the deep breathing and coughing exercises
for after the surgery. He also expects, if all goes well, that I
will have a speedy recovery and will only need be out of work 2
weeks, all because of my recent weight loss and exercise regime.
He was pleased for himself and his team because the lower weight,
he says, will make it easier for him to operate. If I don't need
my gall bladder out, I will also have a smaller scar than normal.
This is what I was striving for these past 6 months! I am excited.
I thank God for His help and that He cares. He says that not a sparrow
falls without His noticing, so how much more are we worth in His
eyes :)
On another note, I can't get below 245 pounds else I would be disqualified
for the surgery, so the weight loss is going really slow now. I
went on vacation for 2 weeks and gained 5 lbs., but I'm not going
to worry about it. I tell you though, after a few months of sugar-free
desserts, having a regular sugar-laden dessert is almost horrible
at first. The sweetness is sickening, but it doesn't take too long
to start getting used to it again :(
I do however look forward to the fact that I won't be able to
do large portions of sweet desserts anymore after the surgery.
Oh and by the way, many people have been e-mailing me asking me
why in the world I am having the surgery when my weight loss is
going so well on its own. Well, the answer is that this is the 4th
or 5th time I have done this. It's called the yo-yo syndrome. I
know me and my body, and although I am losing now, inevitably within
1-2 years it is all back again, and then some.
I want to break that cycle once and for all.
