July 2003

It's been 3 months since I've updated this journal as there hasn't been too much going on anymore regarding my weight. I have, however, found that I fit the average profile of a WLS patient where one loses a little too much weight then gains a bit back and settles out.

I went down to 144 lbs. and everyone was saying I looked too thin. My face was drawn out, my upper half was all bones, and size medium t-shirts hung on me. I even went to see my surgeon, because if you take into consideration the 5-10 lbs. of extra skin I have, I was really weighing in the 130s.

But now I've gained back a few pounds and average around 152 lbs. That's good because I don't look so drawn out now. I'm still boney up top and saggy down the bottom (oh well) but until I can get the extra skin taken off (expensive!) that's the way it will be.

My fiancee and I have both noticed that I snack a lot more now than in the first year after surgery (next month will be my 2-year anniversary). I will definitely have to watch that because although I still cannot eat large meals and never will be able to, I can eat snacks and not be bothered physically.
