June 2002
I'm at the 10-month mark now and just as they said would happen
around this time, I am able to tolerate more sugar and will now
have to work on maintaining my new eating habits and watching that
old ones don't start creeping back in.
I didn't want to ever find out how much sugar I could tolerate
and still don't, but I know I can tolerate a lot more than I thought.
Before, my heart would pound a little too hard after 3 bites of
a dessert. Now 3 bites doesn't affect me at all and neither does
quite a bit of regular ice cream, so I will have to watch the amount
of sugar I eat very carefully. No more bites off of my Honey's ice
cream. The no-sugar added Eskimo Pies taste just about as good.
On the flip side, I still cannot eat a regular-sized meal and never
will be able to which I am very happy with. I am so used to small
portions now that the looks of a regular-sized meal actually kinda
grosses me out!
This month I've decided to do a short "WLS grateful list."
I'm grateful for:
• The ability to cross my legs when sitting
• That I can outrun the ball to first base
• That a coach plane seat is no longer a hip torture device
• That I can ride all amusement and water park rides
• That I can outrace the elevator up 3 flights of stairs (okay
so it's a slow elevator, but I can still beat it!)
• That I am not top heavy from huge boobs anymore (I kinda miss
them though...)
• That I am skinnier than my fiancé (LOL!)
